    The exhibitions Urgent Conversations: Athens–Antwerp and Urgent Conversations: Antwerp – Athens are a collaboration between EMST and M HKA, a theoretical and visual dialogue, based on works from the collections of both museums, which includes more than 70 works structured in 22 topics.

    "On hearing the name Wout Vercammen, one immediately thinks of humorous and anarchic situations, but also of a Belgium whose name, tricolor and form comprise recurrent elements in this artist's oeuvre.  The least that can be said, is that the man 'has a thing' for this land.  He holds up an ironical and grinningly critical mirror to it, while at the same time putting it on a pedestal and elevating it to art."

    "Wie Wout Vercammen zegt, denkt meteen aan ludieke en anarchistische toestanden, maar ook aan België waarvan de naam, de driekleur en de vorm telkens weerkerende elementen zijn in het oeuvre van de kunstenaar. Het minste wat kan gezegd worden, is dat de man iets heeft met dit land. Hij neemt het ironisch en grinnikend op de korrel maar zet er tegelijkertijd een sokkel onder en verheft het tot kunst."
